Webmail Cpanel

Viewing emails

The current version of the webmail cpanel gives you the option of viewing emails using one of three email clients.

  1. Horde
  2. RoundCude
  3. SquirrelMail

You can try alll three and selecty one that fits your needs.

To try all three:

  • Click on the logo of the mail client you wish to use
  • Once you are in the inbox you can freely use the features offered by the email client
  • If you are done evaluating, click back to return to the cpanel and try a different email client
  • Note: Any changes you make in one email client will be reflected on the others.

Other Cpanel options

  1. Change Password
  2. Forwarding
  3. Auto Responders
  4. Configuring Mail Client e.g. Outlook
  5. Box Trapper
  6. Email Delivery Route
  7. Email Filtering

1. Change Password

This option allows you to enter a new password for your webmail account. It is imortant to enter a relatively complex password

using letters, numbers, and symbols. This will ensure that you official GLUK email address is secure, and can not be used by malicious parties.

You can use the password generator if you can not come up with a strong enought password of your own.

Make sure that your new password is something you can remember easily, and do not write it down where it can be easily accessed if at all.

Your new password will need your new password the next time you login to webmail.

2. Forwarding

Forwarders allow you to send a copy of all mail from one email address to another. Email forwarding can also redirect email going to one address and send it to several other addresses without the sender knowing. It can also forward email going to several different addresses to a single email address. You can forward emails to any address, not just those under your own domain name e.g. hotmail, yahoo and gmail.

If a mailbox exists for the forwarded address, mail will still be delivered to the mailbox as well as being forwarded. For example: You can have your emails forwarded to hotmail, but a copy will be stored in your GLUk webmail account inbox.

Email can also be forwarded to a special :fail: address - this in effect discards the email, and is useful if you receive lots of spam at a particular address.

Email can also be forwarded (or "piped") to a program or script for processing...

3. Auto Responders

Step 1: To access the auto responders menu, click on the Auto Responders icon on the main screen of your cPanel interface.

Web Mail Auto Responder

Step 2: To add a new auto responder, click on the [Add Auto-responder] button.

Step 3: Enter the email address you wish to send the auto-responses from, the name you wish the message to come from, the subject of the auto-response email, select a character set from the drop-down menu and choose whether the message will be displayed in HTML format. Finally, type in the message in the Body field.

4. Configuring Mail Client

When you access an email account through a desktop email application such as Outlook® Express®, the email application will require specific information about your email account. You can use the auto-configure options below to attempt to automatically configure your email application. If the available options are not compatible with your application, you will need to use the Manual Settings information - Setting can be found in configure mail client link within the cpanel.

Note: IMAP email access coordinates between the server and your mail application. Messages that have been read/deleted/replied to will show up as such, both on the server and in the mail application. POP3 does not coordinate with the server. Messages marked as read/deleted/replied to in the mail application will not show up as such on the server. This means that future mail downloads with POP3 will show all messages as unread.

5. Box Trapper

How does BoxTrapper Work?

When someone sends you an email, BoxTrapper holds off on delivering the email to you until it can determine the email was sent by a real person and not a spammer. It does this by sending an email back to the sender of the email, and asks that they simply respond to the email to verify they are a real person. Most spam is sent by programs and not people, and most of those programs are not developed to reply to such emails. When BoxTrapper receives a response from its test email, it delivers the initial email to your inbox. There are options you can configure to allow email addresses to be whitelisted, meaning that they only need to go through this process with BoxTrapper once.

How do I configure BoxTrapper?

BoxTrapper can be enabled two ways: through the cPanel or through webmail.  To enable BoxTrapper for any accounts, simply log into your cPanel and select "BoxTrapper" under the Mail settings.  Once in the "BoxTrapper" section hit "enable" and Box Trapper will be active.  If you have an email user that wants to use BoxTrapper but does not have access to the cPanel, it can also be enabled at the bottom of the Webmail page.
