Department of Pastoral Theology

Great Lakes University of Kisumu (Gluk) is an Interdenominational Evangelical Christian Institution. It is a product of Tropical Institute of Community Health and Development and is highly known for its unique methods of program delivery, action research and community services in community Health Development as well as a strong theologically and biblically based study. The department of Theology, in particular draws students mainly from Christian evangelical churches in Africa and beyond.


The department of Theology, in particular, draws students mainly from Christian churches in Africa and beyond. The programs educate women and men to serve the broad Church. The department develops leaders who are learned, skilled, informed by the Word of God, and committed to the mission of Christ’s church, through a common life of prayer, learning, and service. The GLUK theological programs equips its students for ministry through the gift of theological reflection within their surrounding communities.

GLUK is dedicated in furthering Christian formation of students from all walks of life  to nurture their call to Christian service through a variety of life-changing programs

    • Practical Ministry - Systematic Theology
    • Church History - Biblical Studies (OT emphasis or NT emphasis)
  • Masters of Arts in Christian Ministry • Practical Ministry - Leadership • Christian Counseling

Admission Requirements

  • Certificate program- an overall  KCSE mean grade of C- (minus) or equivalent
  • Diploma program- an overall  KCSE mean grade of C (plain) or equivalent
  • Bachelors program- an overall KSCE mean grade of C+ (plus) or equivalent
  • Post-Graduate Program- a recognized University Degree of Higher Diploma or Its Equivalent
  • cluster subject are also taken into consideration

Admission Procedures and information

  • Gluk has three admissions namely, Jan., May and September.
  • Gluk runs both full time and part time classes and holiday classes are conducted during the months of April, August and December – on a ministry-based learning program.
