    Dr. SIRINGI, Elijah Mirwoba has been appointed as the  Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor  Academic Affairs (Ag. DVCAA) of Great Lakes University of Kisumu.  Dr. Siringi takes over from Prof. John Alwar with immediate effect .Before  Dr. Siringi’s appointment as DVC (AA), he was working in the position of the Chief Registrar Academic in Great Lakes University of Kisumu.

    Great Lakes University of Kisumu (GLUK) is a fully chartered private university with its main campus located within Kisumu environs. The University wishes to recruit qualified and dedicated persons for the following vacant positions:

     

    1. LIBRARY ASSISTANT

    Key Responsibilities

    • Performs circulation functions such as check-out and check-in of library materials and library user registrations
    • Performs simple maintenance and repair on library equipment
    • Assist library users with the use of library equipment
    • Organization of library stock (shelving and shelf reading0 to facilitate identification and retrieval of information resources
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the university librarian

    Education and Qualifications

    • Diploma in library and information studies from accredited college/institution
    • Communication skills
    • Problem solving skills
    • Must be computer literate
    • Ability to work under minimum supervision

    2. SENIOR LIBRARY ASSISTANT

    Key Responsibilities

    • Charging and discharging library information resources to users for various information needs
    • Provision of quick reference and information services to users for effective use of library materials
    • Organization of library stock (shelving and shelf-reading)
    • Acting as liaison between the library and other departments
    • Ability to catalogue an classify library materials
    • Perform any other duties  as assigned by the university librarian
    • Have knowledge on how to acquire and use e-resources

    Education and Qualifications

    • A bachelor degree in library
    • At least 3years experience in a busy academic library
    • Good working knowledge of library management systems
    • Be a member of a professional body
    • Computer literate

    3. POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW – RESEARCH IN WASH

    Great Lakes University of Kisumu is seeking for a full-time one-year postdoctoral research fellows.

    RESEARCH

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinate research activities in WASH and other research opportunities that might arise;
    • Assist in the development of new WASH research proposals;
    • Support in preparation of manuscripts for publication;
    • Provide administrative assistance for WASH workshops, arranging logistics as required for the project;
    • Help prepare quarterly reports on the management activities of the SHARE/GLUK project;
    • Ensure that financial reports are provided with the reporting package, as appropriate.

    CAPACITY BUILDING

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinate the capacity building activities for the WASH project
    • Organize and manage the MSc and PhD scholarship calls for the WASH project
    • Provide support to GLUK students working in WASH research

    Requirements

    1. Ph.D. in Environmental Health, Biomedical Science, Biostatistics or Epidemiology.
    2. Strong research skills (both quantitative and qualitative methods, preferred).
    3. Record of publication (including abilities to conceptualize and collaborate)
