Simulation Laboratory Is Here, Welcome To The Future
On June 18th 2026, Great Lakes University of Kisumu (GLUK) hosted Mr. Anthony Gitau, who paid a courtesy visit to the University as part of the ongoing collaboration between Johnson & Johnson and Afya Reach to support the establishment and equipping of a state-of-the-art Simulation Laboratory.
Mr. Gitau was received by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics, Research and Student Affairs) Prof. Charles Wafula and Deputy Vice Chancellor Finance Administration and Planning Prof Genevieve Mwayuli on behalf of the Vice Chancellor. Discussions focused on the progress of the project and preparations currently underway to make the Simulation Laboratory fully operational.
Once completed, the facility will strengthen competency-based teaching and learning by providing students with hands-on training opportunities in realistic clinical environments. The Simulation Laboratory is expected to benefit learners in Nursing, Clinical Medicine, and other health sciences programmes, enhancing their practical skills and readiness for professional practice.
The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment of GLUK, Johnson & Johnson, and Afya Reach to advancing quality healthcare education and building a highly skilled health workforce capable of responding to the evolving healthcare needs of communities in Kenya and beyond.
